The Philly Recipe Project: Showing you new ways to use delicious vegan products local to Philly at home!

For those days when you're missing your favorite food truck!

It's common to leave very full and very happy after a visit to the Algorithm Restaurants food truck. Whether you choose to chow down on one of the classic menu staples, or a limited special creation from the mind of Exec Chef Cody Ballard, you're going to be impressed with what the all-vegan food truck has to offer! That's what makes Mondays and most Tuesdays (Algorithm's usual off days) so hard.

To help make those off days feel a little less hard, we made this recipe for food-truck-food-topped, Calabrian-whiz-stuffed crust pizza, featuring Algorithm Restaurants' Beet Ketchup, Truck Sauce, and Calabrian Chili Whiz sauces! This mash up between pizza, crispy fries, seitan nuggets, and Algorithm's mainstay sauces will mentally transport you to their big blue truck. The pizza may seem like a lot going on at first, but it's a love at first bite situation.

If you live in the Philly area, you can get these sauces directly from Algorithm, or check the availability of the sauce bottles with one of their wholesale partners!

An underrated sauce combo right here!!

Ingredients:

1 lb pizza dough, room temp
1 cup vegan mozzarella
1/2 cup vegan cheddar
1/4 cup red onion, very thinly sliced
1/4 cup Algorithm's Calabrian Cheese Whiz sauce
3 tbsp Algorithm's Truck Sauce
3 tbsp Algorithm's Beet Ketchup
1 cup french fries, cooked
1 cup vegan nuggets, cooked
1 tbsp cornmeal
optional for topping: scallions, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 480°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Sprinkle cornmeal onto the baking sheet.

  2. Shape your pizza dough into a large circle on the baking sheet. Flatten parameter of the dough with your fingers as much as possible. This will make stuffing the crust easier.

  3. Spoon Calabrian Chili Whiz in a ring around the dough about 1/4 inch from the dough's edge.

  4. Begin rolling the dough and pinching it under itself a bit to form the whiz-filled crust.

  5. Sprinkle vegan mozzarella cheese in an even layer across the pizza, then half of the vegan cheddar cheese.

  6. Top pizza with fries and vegan nuggets. Sprinkle the remaining vegan cheddar over the top. Sprinkle thinly sliced red onions over the top of pizza.

  1. Bake pizza for 10-15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown, then remove from oven.

  2. Drizzle Truck Sauce and Beet Ketchup across the top of the pizza. If desired, sprinkle sliced scallions on top of pizza.

  3. Once cool enough, slice, serve, and enjoy your food truck pizza!
