The Philly Recipe Project: Vegan Hoagie Dip

The Philly Recipe Project: Showing you new ways to use delicious vegan products local to Philly at home!

A dip for lovers of that classic hoagie flavor experience

Whether you're trying to please a crowd or satisfy your own "fun" food cravings, a good dip consistently gets the job done. This dip, packed with all of the elements you'd find wedged into a hoagie roll, definitely falls into the category of winning dips.

At the heart of this dip's "hoagie-ness" is Fishtown Ferments Hoagie Spread! Their Hoagie Spread is a (predominantly) cherry pepper relish that packs a ton of flavor. You may even notice it bubbling a tad from the fermentation!

Fishtown Ferments makes a variety of amazing ferments right in Philadelphia using ingredients sourced from local farms and producers (who are often denoted on the labels). You can get your hands on some Fishtown Ferments goods in all of these places within and outside of PA!!!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 tbsp Fishtown Ferments Hoagie Spread
1 head romaine lettuce, shredded
1/2 cup vegan provolone slices, diced
1/4 cup vegan pepperoni, finely diced
1/4 cup vegan turkey, finely diced
1/2 cup grape tomatoes, quartered
1/2 onion, finely diced
1/4 cup roasted red peppers, diced
3/4 cup vegan mayonnaise
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 tsp oregano
1 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 loaf sourdough bread or 3-4 hoagie rolls, sliced

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix vegan mayo, Fishtown Ferments Hoagie Spread, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until completely combined.

  2. Add romaine lettuce, onion, roasted red peppers, grape tomatoes, diced vegan provolone, vegan turkey, and vegan pepperoni, then mix thoroughly. Refrigerate if not serving right away.

  3. Toast sourdough or hoagie roll slices lightly before serving if desired.

  4. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top of dip, serve alongside bread slices. Dip bread in, and enjoy!
